Get Rid Of That Smoky Car Smell
A smoky car smell is one of the hardest odours to get rid of. Cigarette smoke seems to permeate through everything, penetrating anything from the carpet to the dashboard. There are methods to get rid of the smoke but they don’t necessarily always work.
For most people, the first step is to take everything out of the car and give it a good wash. This may help for the upholstery and the mats but it still doesn’t necessarily remove the cigarette smell in its entirety. There are sprays and car deodorizers that can be bought to mask the smell but again, these don’t necessarily last.
There are some homemade deodorizers that do work to a point though. For example placing a bowl of coffee grounds inside the car with the windows closed will overpower the smoke, but it will fade after a few hours. Vinegar in a cup is another way to remove the smell. As most cars come with handy cup holders these days, it is an easy solution and can be topped up as and when it is needed. Cinnamon sticks, lemon peel, and charcoal are other stronger smelling DIY options that can also be used to mask the smell.
However, if the smoke smell is persisting because you are a smoker then there are alternative ways to combat this. If the nicotine addiction is the issue, there is always Snusdirect as an alternative. Snus is a dry tobacco in a small pouch. This is simply tucked under the top lip and still provides the same nicotine rush as a cigarette but minus the smoke. This can be a simple and effective way of killing two birds with one stone.
One final method is to simply avoid smoking in the car but if this is not possible try doing so with the windows down to let the smoke blow free.
